2011 Cadillac Cts V Vs Bmw M5

Just returned my CTS V lease. It was a fairly emotional event. I loved the V, and she will be greatly missed. On the bright side I got the F90 M5 to fill the void in my HP craving heart. M5 is not as raw as the V, but I guess it was never meant to be. That said, on the street, the M5 performance and luxury limits are higher than those of the V. Stock this is a 10 sec car, with reproducible sub 3 sec 0 - 60 launches on normal roads. I wait for the day the V gets AWD to put all that power down on street roads. I hope to be in a proper Blackwing sometime in the future, and maybe see some of you guys then. Until that happens, below is my farewell V pic and some pics of the M5.

Great choice if a 4 door is required. I love my V, but damn if the new M8 isn't a sexy beast!

F90 is badass.
Careful if you plan to mod it, those turbos can make so much torque down low they bend the stock rods if you aren't careful.

Congrats on the M5!!! Almost pulled the trigger on an 18 M5 but ended up getting my 19 V a few weeks ago. Enjoy launching that beast!

I'm waiting to see what the new V does, time wise and then I'll make my decision. It's either the new V or an M5.

What motor is in your M5 ?

Time wise? The old V still beat the new M5 around the track in the only comparison I saw (but just barely) and the new upcoming one is supposedly 'seconds' faster around a track than old. The M5 has the old V beat in almost every other way except track performance so if you're deciding based on performance times, just go ahead and assume you're getting a V!

Thanks guys! I needed a 4 door for the fam, so the choices were another V3, or M5, or E63, or CT6 V.
E63 does not lease well, CT6 V felt too big, and there were no more V3 leases offered. So M5 was the only (and a very good) option left.

Agreed. Having tracked the V3 I can see how it edged out the M5 by being lighter, smaller, and sharper on the track. Unfortunately for V, it does not drive on the streets as it does on the track - most of the time there's simply no traction, as to be expected for a RWD 600+ HP car. M5 with AWD is simply on rails and therefore has much higher limits on the streets.
I'm hoping for a AWD Blackwing. Also heard there may be a manual? Let's see if GM provides.

Look at that statement. The Journo's have been clamoring for this for the american audience and it hase been here for 5 years. They can all munch a bag of dicks.

Sorry, should have specified, I'm a 1/4 mile guy. If the new V goes 11.5 or better stock, then I'll seriously consider it. Because I guess with a tire, and VERY simple mods it would equal the high 10s numbers the M5 does with AWD stock.

Probably very true. But stock for stock on the street, the M5 will win every time. Just due to launch control and AWD.

both are great cars, to each their own, I think those M5s are badass, but theres just something about the V, looks better, the sound of the supercharged V8, the aftermarket is more fun and as dumb as it may be, I guess I enjoy spinning the tires up the road even though its not the fastest way to get moving
Personally, the M5 would scare me to modify.
If the V breaks, its not that dumb to fix, I cant say the same about the german stuff

Also, are you guys going off the car and driver high 10s time?
ive seen some stuff that made it seem like they got a ringer car, saw a modded tuned/downpipe M5 tested that was supposed to be 750hp and wouldnt go any quicker than 10.8, which it supposedly did "stock"?
He also claims another source tested the M5 at [email protected] stock
heres one at my home track at cecil county so its sea level here, [email protected] mph. Honestly not any faster than my stock V3 will do there.
heres another stock example with a best [email protected] they say
heres is the video I was referring to:
Those cars are awesome but I feel like maybe yall are giving them too much credit with this high 10 claim stock personally, seem right on par with a V3 roughly.

A quick note: The 750 HP M5 Comp in that last video was not launched. The launch control was obviously not engaged when you look at the dash and the car started moving at around 2K rpm lol. Maybe that's why some testers pull worse numbers than others - because they don't know how to drive these things.

Agreed again. That is why I went with the V3 in the first place, unfortunately no leases for '19 were available in '20. I had no problems being in another V3 for the next 3 years. V3 is a special car, and you have to have owned one to really know it. I really hope for all the stars to align so that GM gets the next one right.
